In on a business trip, a fellow business associate wanted to know if I wanted to eat seafood. Me not seafood? Does the pope wear a funny hat? Knowing that we are in Fort Smith, I was sure that the evening would end in failure. He perked up and said the name of the restaurant was Landry's. I replied, "you mean the Landry's that's in New Orleans, and Houston? He said, I think so... Well, I went from utter excitement, to utter disappointment. We arrived, and I could tell from the outside that this was not the Landry's that I have enjoyed many, many times. The waitress was quick with a menu and my first question do you have any fresh fish on special tonight? She said no, everything we have is frozen. OK, I get it, it is Fort Smith, and I guess they either do not have an airport or their clientele does not ask for fresh fish. Looking at the menu is hard, when you want seafood, but you really don't want anything fried. We split a dozen oyster's, and I know, they were not fresh, but they tasted fine. I had the crawfish etoufee, I know, I know, sauce was good, but the frozen little crawfish had no flavor. My dining companion had the red snapper, and he loved it. I took a bite, and for frozen it was not bad. It's not fair for me to rate this place compared to a restaurant chain that serves fresh fish, but for the service, and the overall food, I will give it a solid 3 stars. The frozen oysters brought it up to a 3. Stay hungry my friends...

The steak I had was delicious but it was so hot in there everyone was sweating and using menus to fan the self. Just to hot to enjoy. I'd say go in the winter

Great food and service! Waiter remembers what we had ordered from our previous visit. Catfish and ribeye royal is amazing. Also bread pudding is really good. Can't go wrong with this place!!

On a VERY busy Friday night, we entered a crowded R Landry's expecting a lengthy wait. The hostess asked us if we didn't mind sharing a large table with another couple, she could seat is immediately. We accepted and were seated. We thought it would be a little strange but all went well. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. They checked on us just the right amount. The food was very good. Their sauces are excellent. There was live music this night and we enjoyed We're definitely going back.

I went here for my birthday and ordered the grouper, and let me tell you, it was about a foot long and 2 inches deep. Are you kidding me? I never have had a piece of fish so perfect! It even beats mommas fish house in Maui. The service and live music was way better than most places I have been too. Also if you love spicy food, get the number 5 on the side and prepare. If you ever had Daves insanity sauce it's just like that. Go here and you will have a fantastic time!

Excellent, excellent. I'm always skeptical about restaurants that label themselves as a certain style, especially when they say "New Orleans style." This establishment was spot on. The decor was themed to be Nola-esque. That's the easy part. The food was certainly in the claimed style. My workmate and I started with an appetizer of fried clams, fried calamari, and fried crawfish. It was a great start to a great meal. I ordered the Taste of New Orleans meal which included crawfish étouffée, red beans & rice with blackened sausage, and gumbo. The beans and rice portion was incredibly tasty. There was a smoky flavor that pushed it to the top and then over it. The étouffée was outstanding as well. The sauce was rich and creamy but not overly, which is what usually happens when trying to mimic this recipe. The crawfish were tender. The gumbo wasn't all that great, but it was still full of flavor. I gladly encourage anyone to dine here. The next time I'm in town, I'm going here first. The 1 person boiler is going to be my next order.

Meh. Stopped passing through town. Large portions, not much flavor. Way too big for lunch. I would recommend splitting a dish because they are so huge. My po boy was just ok. Both the French fries and the gumbo were lacking. However, the service was very friendly. Seems like a cool place to hang out in the evening when they have live music, but otherwise not much going for it.

We really enjoyed stopping at this place on our way to Oklahoma City. We were there on a Friday and there was live music. We tried the fried fish platter, gumbo soup, and The Boiler. We enjoyed all thoroughly. The Boiler plate was definitely a good try. With the live music it gets a little loud, but not annoyingly so. The atmosphere was pleasant, homy, and entertaining.

Amazing!! I'm telling you, this is the place to be on any night. They have amazing live music as well as great food. Susie makes they best margaritas in town! Tell her that you want her to make you one like she makes me! You won't be disappointed. That said, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is equally inviting. Please, do yourself a favor and visit here often. Your happy level is guaranteed to go up!!

Absolutely our worst experience ever. While the service and fasciitis were acceptable, the food quality was not. New Orleans is like our second home and I can assure you that nothing about this food is similar to NOLA. The fried foods were all over cooked. The sea food tasted very fishy and old. The calamari was rubbery like a thick rubber band. The seasonings were severely lacking. This place might be acceptable for those who have never been to NOLA, but it is certainly not authentic.

Crawfish étouffée was for lunch today. It was good but forgettable. Salad had an interesting house dressing that I enjoyed. Service was excellent which is why the 4 star. Parking is a bear also, if you can't park in the street good luck finding a spot.

My husband and I love trying local places when we travel from state to state. My husband said the food was amazing and authentic. He recommends the Craw-fish and etoufet. The waitress was super nice and gave descriptions of the culture of the state. The bus boy also made sure our waters were refilled the entire time. A must go :)

I will say that the decor of the building was of New Orleans style, after that nothing else. I know Ft Smith is not close to the water, but they could at least make an attempt to have some type of FRESH seafood. After being seated I asked waitress if they had any fresh seafood or if it was all frozen. She replied " nothing fresh because no way of getting it". Wife ordered the boiler for one, when they brought out the tray it was huge, really enough food on it for 2. Portions would have been great for the price of $43.00, but the seafood had no taste. The boil mixture they used was more like diluted dish water, very disappointing. No taste of creole seasoning at all, no tyme, not even any hint of tabasco or hot sauce. Also ordered the red beans and blackened sausage. Once again, no taste or flavor, the sausage was just a piece split in half thrown on a flat top and burnt a little. Service from waitress was good Food was a HUGE disappointment. After reading other comments, we had been really excited about trying, maybe we just came on bad night. But we won't try again

Bomb.com I got personal boiler which was Alaskan King Crab, 1 lb crawfish, and crab claws. Excellent.

  • Andy S.

Very disappointed in customer service. Great crab legs, oysters, but way over cooked crawfish. Told them it was way over cook and they didn't have a solution to fix my issue n still charge me. Told me wrong pricing but didn't bother to ask to change because I was fed up. Service was ok but had one waitress for about 9 tables, so it was kind of slow. I'm sad to say when I'm in town for work I will not be back.

Typical Fort Smith restaurant with absurd pricing for average food. W/tip almost $100, for two catfish and one chicken meal; CHICKEN & CATFISH. Locals rave about it but only because its a treat and not the bla chains they are comparing it to. I will give them credit for atmosphere which is unique. The proprietor does table side checks and conversation which is a welcomed experience, though I wish it were also done during the later part of the meal. Our server was exceptional, not a common occurance in FS, especially at local/regional restaurants here. I was aware of evening live music which is why we took our 13 year old daughter there at 4pm, knowing we would avoid the bar atmosphere and very loud live music while being able to enjoy our absurdly priced meal. Unfortunately we did not get to eat in peace without screeching, annoying, obnoxious, noise blaring from the oversized speakers inappropriately placed in such a small space. The band wasnt there but a man turned off the misc music playing at a reasonable volume and began playing with the soundboard, yelling check check chchch chchcheck checkchechecheckkkk then several other things, eventually turning the normal music back on; but increased the volume to a rediculous level. Our server turned it down, I thanked her, then he returned turning the volume back up. This continued even as we left. My primary issue with R Landrys is cost for quality.$100 for a small filet of catfish (pouring saturated fat onto my plate), heaping mound of CHEAP quality corn (cheapest veg available), hushpuppies ( almost burned), a small cup gumbo, & a generic iceburg lettuce (cheapest lettuce) salad sprinkled with generic brand dried out product that was allegedly a form of orange cheese (could have used as a toothpick); and add two other plates equal to this with three sodas. I would have and should have walked out with my family. But my daughter and her mother were looking forward to our evening out after months of not having enough money to give them an evening out and our server had worked very hard to give us a nice experience. However, I am now filled with anger and regret that my very hard to come by money was wasted! What is done is done, but I can at least share my experience with all of you. OH, how could I forget.......THE DAMN STRAWS...... If you are going to serve soda in HUGE glasses get the correct length straw!!!!! I am sure you can add $3.00 per soda to cover the .1% additional cost you may pay for them. Having to dig our straws out of the glass each time we wanted a drink was as annoying if not more so than the other ridiculous experiences. Why am I saying glass? It was plastic pepsi or coke type cups that are typically free from the soda manufacturer. If you enjoy a loud bar atmosphere owned by locals rather than chains, well this is your place. With a little more attention to details such as glassware, cloth napkins (even if polyblend), better eating utensils, and noise control I would have no issue with you molesting me with cost. ***It would be an excellent place to grab a snack/side and have a laid back cocktail alone or with friends after work.

I love Cajun cooking. When I sat down to peruse the menu what jumped out at me was the 1 Person Boiler! Snow crab, stone crab claws, shrimp, crawfish and andouille sausage, all on 1 beautiful plate? "Put me in, coach!" is what came to mind. Unfortunately, I had arrived on a Wednesday night and you can't have a boiler on a Wednesday night. So I settled for the "Taste of New Orleans". It was very good but after you set yourself up for the boil with corn and taters it just comes up short.

First and foremost, the service at the little gem is off the charts. The wait staff actually cares and move quickly. The food is insanely good. Huge portions. Go get some!!!!!

I loved this place. Very nice surprise as we randomly walked in here before a concert at the Rib Room down the street. Food was good to very good. Drinks were stiff. Portions and prices were right for the product. Service was a little slow as they were pretty busy and only one server was on the floor and she was also tending bar.

  • Berlinda L.

The food here is amazing! Their étouffée is amazing. The food would easily be considered 5 stars. The portions are very generous and an entree is meant to be shared, or you will have plenty of left overs for another meal or two. The atmosphere is not meant for families. There is a rougher crowd that may sometimes use harsh language. I asked for their beers on draft and half their list was not available (this was on a Friday night as well). The live music here is entertaining if you like live music.

  • Neal C.

Landry's has a really unique, New Orleans' style atmosphere complete with the music and drinks. The food, however, was very mediocre-- and expensive to boot. The flavors taste similar to those found in Creole country, the problem is that the amount of food and the prices do not match in any way. For $8-12 this place would be pretty good... but $15-25 is not justifiable.

I've been a loyal customer to this eatery for over 10 yrs now. Loyalty like that is only possible by consistency. The true heart if this little gem, tucked away in the historic district of downtown is the staff. The waitstaff have been a constant, and are always happy to see me. The owner is greatest, and always makes the effort to stroll the dining area and check to see how your meal is. If something isn't right, she's quick to remedy the situation in any way possible. Though, I can't recall a meal I haven't enjoyed here. This place is a definite must if you find yourself breezing thru the area. I'd suggest name dropping, and mentioning that Matt sent ya, but you may be charged an extra nominal fee for that stunt.. ;)

I would put the food up against any that I have had in Houston, where I live. The restaurant is small, and the night that I went the cook vent was out, so be prepared l smell like food the rest of the night. Food - excellent. Venue - could be better.

Oustanding Nawlin's style food. We ate here twice this week because it was so good. Try the Cajun Trio: crawfish etoufee, gumbo, and blackened shrimp and try to save room for the bread pudding! Good beer selection as well.

Had shrimp creole... sauce was WAY too sweet. Everything is overpriced even compared to the French Quarter. Don't waste your time and money here.

The food is really great. I've been stuck on the Seafood Pasta the last few times I have visited. The crawfish in it is perfect. The bread pudding is to die for. Great dressing on the salad too. Huge portions. I enjoy live music. That being said, I believe R. Landry's is a little too small to enjoy the live music AND have a conversation. So, If you're afraid of saying something stupid on a first date definitely go on a night when they have a band (nearly every night). Otherwise, get there early in the evening and enjoy the band after your meal. Landry's is my favorite restaurant in town!

Total waste of my money. I had the fried catfish and gumbo with hush puppies. The Hush puppies were not completely cooked and the fish had no taste plus it was soggy. I didn't touch the gumbo because I was already disgusted by what I did try.

  • Billy D.

I really enjoyed my visit to Landrys for lunch. I had the gumbo and blackened shrimp. This was my first attempt at New Orleans style food and I have a feeling I will be craving the gumbo sometime in the near future.

This is my dad's favorite spot when visiting family in Arkansas/Oklahoma. He has been coming here since it was in the small location! He swears by the monstrous Cajun Prime Rib so we all made our way to Landry's. With a part of 8 it is quite a feat to get a table without a reservation. Luckily, we called ahead. If you are thinking that you can just walk in a grab a seat you will be in for a surprise. This place was hopin! Live music, cute décor, and friendly staff got our dining experience off to a good start! We started by having some gumbo. This was pretty tasty and had the right combination of seafood to gumbo mixture. For the main course I ordered the Famous Seafood Pasta-$18.98( yelp.com/biz_photos/Akyq… ) . First let me say that the portions are huge! If the menu says famous you almost have to try it! This was angel hair pasta topped with a Cajun Seafood Sauce. I loved the huge chunks of crawfish/shrimp and the flavor was totally on point. It was rich, well-seasoned, and had just the right amount of kick to it. This dish is also served with corn and a slice of bread. Let me tell you that three of us could have just split this one dish. Side note: this dish is great as a leftover. The most popular dish ordered at our table was the Rib Eye prepared Nawlins Style ( yelp.com/biz_photos/Akyq… )! At $35.98 a pop weighing in at the biggest and most expensive item on the menu, I thought to myself this better be good! I think total there were of these dishes brought to our table. I am so surprised the table didn't just crumble with the sheer weight of the food! This rib eye is topped with the same Cajun seafood sauce that came on the pasta. Once you start in on the rib eye you notice it is also served atop a bed of pasta and is served with corn and bread as well. Needless to say that no one left hungry! We tried the bread pudding as this is supposed to be the best bread pudding ever. Meh, I've had better. Nothing to write home about. Note: All dishes are served with a small side salad I have to say that it seems like Landry's is a one trick pony with the Cajun Seafood Sauce that seems to be encompassed in to most of the dishes we tried. I like the atmosphere but I feel that since they are growing they may be losing some of their customer service. I believe we saw the owner and she use to stop and say hello. On this evening she just glanced in our direction and didn't even bother with a smile. I would go back to Landry's but would certainly split a dish with a friend and would try something without the universal sauce.

I don't like bread pudding, but I love Landry's bread pudding. Weird. I haven't been there for years (moved away), so I'm not sure if they still do this but they used to have local bands play live some nights. Cozy little joint. If I'm ever in Fort Smith again, Landry's is on my list of places I need to revisit.

    (4)
  • Kelly J.

Firstly, they have Woodchuck Pear on draft...WINNER!!!! I typically only go here for lunch since I work next door. My lunch order is always the Crawfish Etoufee, it's creamy with just the right amount of spices and a boatload of crawfish. On the rare occasion that we go to Landry's for dinner I can't resist the boilers! The one person boiler can easily be shared by two people. My only minor complaint (that isn't really a complaint) is the loud music, so I wouldn't recommend going to Landry's when a band is playing if you had conversation in mind. If you want to enjoy some good music and great food then this is the place to go in Fort Smith. :)

  • Konrad H.

"Fri-Sat 5 pm - 11 pm" NOT! Walked in at 10:05pm and were told they were closed. The hours are directly cut and pasted from what Landry's entered on their Yelp page. They have the same incorrect info on Google. I literally drove through hell and high water to get there as it was raining so hard there were cars stalled due to the standing water being so high right on US 64 (Garrison Rd.) They had not closed early because of the rain. FYI not their fault but Garmin GPS has them in the wrong spot they are on US-64/Garrison Rd not off it.

I'd been hankering for some genuine Creole cooking for a very long time, so we stopped in to Landry's for a bite. Boy-o-boy, were we not disappointed! We came at an off-peak time so we could chat up the staff to find out what they liked to cook and what their specialties are. Natalie and Dorie brought out some of the most tasty, sumptuous Cajun dishes we'd ever enjoyed! The gumbo was a delight -- complex smoky flavors and spicy -- just the way I like it. I wish I could get my roux to taste like that. The jambalaya was a extremely delicious. The ingredients were fresh and everything was homemade -- just like grandma used to make! Bring an empty stomach because portions are generous and you'll find a hard time stopping!

  • Marie S.

This place is great! Stopped here on a Friday night for dinner and some beers. Great live show (didn't catch the name of the band) and the waitress was very attentive. Decent beer selection; the etoufee was better than a couple other places we had in Memphis. We split the 2 person boiler and it was excellent (even though they were out of the crawfish). We probably could have split a 1 person boiler, it comes with a huge amount of food. Maybe its because some things were out of season, but the boiler dinner ended up being about $35 each which was a little more than we were expecting.

There are a couple of joints like this around; New Orleans meets Arkansas in an old restored downtown brick building with live music just inside the door pressed against the window. The food was ok... except Blackened Shrimp which were full of tasty blackness. They don't come with many so order more. It has Boulevard on tap, tap and double tap that. Update: St. Patrick's Day had an Irish band play and it was delightful, hooray!

I was in Arkansas for 3 weeks for work, my co-workers and I discovered Landrys our 3rd day via Yelp and went back 4 times. Amazing owners, good service and EXCELENT food. You HAVE to get the seafood pasta and bread pudding. Its been over a year since we were in Arkansas and we still talk about the food.

    (5)
  • Nichole K.

Excellent beer choices, open on Mondays...excellent food. The only "criticism" is that they need to add dirty rice to their menu and the corn was canned. The rest of the plate was so good that no one really wanted the corn anyway. Well worth the trip if you are within 30 miles!

  • Jason B.

EAT HERE! Ft. Smith surprisingly has several great places to eat. Landry's is what I would consider one of two MUST eat places in Ft. Smith. They have great food (the etouffee, blackened sausage and fried oysters are some of my favourites) and a fun laid back N'awlens atmosphere. They have live music on the weekends too. Whatever you do, no matter how full you are, try the bread pudding. It is great and the sauce is fantastic. I didn't even like bread pudding until I tried theirs.

    (5)
  • Suzy B.

Landry's is as good as anything you'll ever eat. We don't even live in Arkansas anymore and we still talk about this place - usually when we're eating somewhere that serves cajun food and we say, "ah.... remember when we lived in Fort Smith... remember Dory and Natalie?" Yeah - the food is awesome and the beer selection is the best. Plus, Dory and Natalie are great ladies. We might be a little biased because they used to be our neighbors back a million years ago but I promise they served us the same food they served everyone else. Trust me, if you are in the area and want some super tasty food try this place out. You will not be disappointed.

Based on the other reviews here, I went over there for dinner on a Tuesday night. Parking is weird, all the parking lots surrounding the store have signs saying no parking. Parking on the street is free after 5pm though. The food was pretty good, twice as much there as I wanted to eat. Crawfish Etouee with corn and a piece of bread was $15. Service was good too, but it was near-empty. A small band started playing when my food came, nice to hear live local musicians.

  • Dan F.

Excellent Cajun food, considering it's distance from the gulf. Blackened sausage app was very good, and gumbo was dark and authentic, though lacked a little on spice. Beer selection was great, and service friendly. Only issues... Landrys is a bar at heart, so a bit loud, and kick up the spice a bit. Well worth the trip

    (4)
  • Shovelle S.

We love all things spicy so when we craved cajun Landry's was our go to place. Their crawfish etoufee is excellent and their seafood pasta. We've gone many times and had only one disappointment when the fish was uncooked in the middle. Other than that it's a very friendly, laid back place. Fast service, great food, and a fun spot for special nights out.

Dear God! We went to this place on the advice of some "foodie friends" and let Dorie one of the owners bring us a little bit of everything and.....sheesh! She did us right! We had the amazing seafood pasta, stuffed shrimp, steak, seafood gumbo, and about 6 other dishes that just destroyed us! A-m-a-z-i-n-g! Be sure to get the bread pudding for dessert...!

  • Shawna S.

I recently made a cross country drive and stopped in Fort Smith for the night. I looked on Yelp to see the top rated restaurants in the area for dinner and gave this place a try. OMG does not begin to give this place justice. The food was amazing and I am still thinking about that bread pudding - it truly is the best dessert in the world. I had the creole chicken - delish! And my gf had a combo plate - Taste of New Orleans - with gumbo, red beans & rice and crawfish etouffee. She LOVED it! The food was priced low for the portion sizes. We each left with food in a to go box that we couldn't finish. Even if you are full - you MUST try the bread pudding. It's like Christmas in your mouth.

Pretty good... large portions, nice beer selection, good gumbo. Did I mention the large portions... it is pretty hard to leave here hungry. Prices are also reasonable.

  • L P.

I love the blackened chicken with rice and corn. I prefer to eat during lunch time because the lunch menu is slightly cheaper. On certain nights they do have live bands playing. Bring extra change to pay for parking during the week before 5p.m.

  • Brett H.

Totally agree with above. This place had excellent food and the beer list is unmatched (in Ft Smith). Excellent prices as well. My only complaint, as a fan of Cajun, is that it wasn't very spicy, but next time I'll ask them to spice it up a bit. I will be back!
